Rural Hinterland Sustainable Tourism Handbook

An Emblematic sustainable tourism handbook for mountainous hinterland coastal areas (alternative to a mass tourism and to a concentration of the top-down tourism strategy focused primarily on coast) was created. It is made-up of good practices/initiatives developed by partners or by others stakeholders. These initiatives are described in details including also keys to success, difficulties and identified solutions, lessons learnt from the organisation that has transferred this initiative.

International Conference

An International Conference was organized on 16th May 2024, at Litochoro, Olympus, Greece, presenting the results of the project and offering the ground for networking.

Strategic Interventions for Mountain Growth

The drafting of an expertise study by recording strategic development interventions at international level will provide the basic material for the development of the areas involved. This research focuses on issues of responsibility and governance and includes good practices in specific areas, such as: ways to categorize routes and trails for their use (depending on age, restrictions on movement, specific health conditions), procedures for managing mountain visitors (including modes of movement to and from the starting points of the ascent), soft investments (such as eco-counters, markings).
